Information on Coalville

Detectives are re-appealing for sightings of a vehicle used in an incident in Coalville after it is believed to have been involved in several other crimes outside Leicestershire.

The incident happened at about 8pm on Wednesday March 19, 2008 when four men broke into a house through a ground floor window on Victoria Road, Coalville.

When the 89-year-old woman tried to raise the alarm one of the men placed his hand over her mouth to silence her while the others searched the property.

The woman was not injured but has been left extremely distressed by the incident.

The men got away with a quantity of cash and made off in a silver Audi A6 registration number VUO4 BXV.

Detectives believe that this vehicle was used in several other distraction burglaries on the same day in Leicestershire and other regions and would appeal to anyone to come forward who any information about this vehicle.

Detective Constable Simon Clarke, who is investigating the incident said: "Our investigations have shown that this vehicle was used to commit other distraction burglaries in the Markfield, Nuneaton, Nottingham and Derby areas earlier on the same day.

"At around 8.30pm in the evening the car was seen on the A42 where it went south towards the Birmingham area.

"I am keen to hear from anyone who can recall seeing a vehicle matching this description and registration in Leicestershire, Warwickshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and West Midlands areas on Wednesday March 19.
