Coalville residents helped to shape their local services last month by taking part in the first of a brand new kind of meeting.
Coalville Community Forum, which took place in March, is a new, interactive event allowing people to learn about bigger issues affecting the area, get answers to queries and influence local decision-making.
Residents living in the Ashby, Ibstock and Measham area will also have an opportunity to have their say at meetings later this month.
At the Coalville forum, people heard about plans for the market and town centre, local priorities for the area and the latest on residents' parking schemes.
esidents asked a number of questions and highlighted issues of litter on Broom Leys Road and suggested ways of improving the local area.
The Valley Community Forum, chaired by Trevor Pendleton, will take place on Thursday, 24th April at 6pm in the Catholic Church Hall, Castle Hill, Castle Donington. Issues being discussed include health services, local volunteer transport and the priorities for the area in the coming years.
The Ashby Area Community Forum, chaired by Sean Sheahan, is on Tuesday, 29th April at 6pm in St. Laurence’s Church Hall, Measham and will discuss issues around palliative care and how residents can make choices about where they receive health care.
David Parsons, Leader of the County Council, said: "It is very important that people have the opportunity to influence the public services they receive. Community Forums give everybody in North West Leicestershire the chance to meet their elected representatives and to 'have their say' about how local services can be improved.
Councillor Richard Blunt, Chair of the Partnership to Improve North West Leicestershire and Leader of North West Leicestershire District Council, said: "This is a great opportunity for residents to come along and have their say about the issues that matter to them. All residents need to do to take part is turn up."
