Information on Coalville

bluebellsLocal woodlands are now reaching full bloom and becoming abundant with the smell of the nations favourite wild flower, the bluebell. Local conservationists are advising if you go down to the woods in the next few days be sure to take with you a Wooded Wonders” booklet and survey form. These are available free through Leicestershire County Council’s Community Heritage Initiative, a project supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. These publications will help people learn about local woodland wildlife and the history of woodlands, as well as advise people on how to record the fascinating features, plants and animals that can be found within our local woodland sites.

bluebellsLeicestershire County Council’s Community Heritage Initiative is helping people to safeguard the remaining woodlands and related wildlife that once covered much of Britain. By collecting local wildlife records people can help conservationists to conserve the county’s wild flowers, plants, animals and insects for future generations to enjoy when they go down to the woods. Information collected is stored at the Holly Hayes Environment and Heritage Resources Centre and used to inform local conservation strategies that protect our most important wildlife habitats.

For a copy of the booklet and survey form, or more information, please contact Leicestershire County Council’s Environment and Heritage Resources Centre, Holly Hayes, 216 Birstall Road, Birstall, Leicestershire, LE4 4DG.
