Information on Coalville

cup of coffeeCoalville Library will be hosting a special coffee morning from 10.00am to 12.00noon to celebrate the National Year of Reading and Join Your Library Day on Friday, 25 April. Come along for your chance to win at bingo and recommend good reads. A special Wriggly Reader’s Session toward the end of the morning will keep little ones entertained.

On Saturday 26 April check The Mirror and First News for a form that will help you join the library. Pop down to your library with the form and a proof of ID to take advantage of our free services. Easy! Don’t worry if you can’t find the form, call in and mention the National Year of Reading so we can help you join.

Please ask us about books and reading and let us tell you about events that we have planned. All library staff will be happy to chat.

Leicestershire libraries have lots of free resources. We support reading with activities including reading challenges, internet access, wriggly readers for babies, readers’ groups and author events.

Background Information

The 2008 National Year of Reading is a year-long celebration of reading, in all its forms. It will help to build a greater national passion for reading – for children, families and adult learners alike. The Year will encourage people to read in businesses, homes, and communities around the country, providing new opportunities to read and helping people to access help and support through schools and libraries. Campaigns and activities throughout the year will inspire everyone to read more, with a focus on reluctant readers, those with low confidence, and boys and dads.

Devised in partnership with The Reading Agency, the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council and the Society of Chief Librarians, the library membership campaign aims to recruit 350,000 members throughout the course of the year.
