Information on Coalville

Police are warning residents to be vigilant after a recent spate of thefts of money left on doorsteps in Ashby.

Over the past few weeks, there have been a number of reported thefts of money overnight left out for payment of milk in the Pithiviers Close, Trinity Close and Kilwardby Street areas.

PC Mark Arjoo, the principal beat officer for Ashby town, said: "We are speaking to residents and the milk delivery company to ask them to arrange alternative methods of collecting payment rather cash being left out on doorsteps and would like to warn residents in the area regarding these recent crimes.

"I would urge local residents to report any suspicious activity they see to the police immediately, especially during the early hours of the morning. If anyone has any information regarding the person or people responsible for these thefts, I would ask them to please contact me."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 1667 Mark Arjoo at Ashby police station on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 1667. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
