Leader of the County Council, David Parsons, is visiting two schools tomorrow to congratulate them on their outstanding results.
This year's GCSE results for Groby Community College and King Edward VII Science and Sport College in Coalville are among the best in Leicestershire and both have seen large rises over the last three years.
At Groby, 72.5 per cent of students gained five or more GCSEs A*-C grades and at King Edward, the figure was 56.3 per cent.
During the visit on Wednesday (12th November), Mr Parsons will pass on his congratulations and spend time talking to the headteachers and pupils.
GCSE grades across Leicestershire saw another rise this year with 64 per cent of students achieving five or more A*- C grades - this is a 4 per cent increase compared to 2007 and means that this year's figures are once again above the national average.
David Parsons said: "It is really important to recognise students' achievements and I am looking forward to meeting them and passing on my congratulations.
"Results across Leicestershire at all stages have been very pleasing and credit needs to be given to all the pupils and staff who have worked extremely hard to achieve them."
