robbery,theft,police Robbery on Broom Leys Road

Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of a robbery on Broom Leys Road, Coalville.

The incident happened at around 2am on Monday April 13, when the 19-year-old victim was walking home from a friend's house.

Just after Buckingham Road, the victim was approached by a group of around eight men. He was hit in the face by two of the men and then chased by the rest. The men then caught up with him and pulled him to the ground where they continued to kick and hit him.

The men searched the victim's pockets and took the victims black Sony K7501 mobile phone, a bag containing a pair of trousers and a shirt, a chocolate Easter egg and a small quantity of cash.

The men are all said to be aged around 19-years-old and were wearing hooded tops. All but one, who was of an Asian or black appearance, were said to be white and were seen to all run off in the direction of Coalville.

The victim received injuries to his head and jaw and later attended the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment.

PC Nick Parker, the officer investigating the incident, said: "This incident has had a very negative effect on the victim, leaving him with very frequent headaches and affecting his everyday life.

"We are keen to talk to the owners of a silver Citroen Saxo that was seen driving in the area at the time of the incident.

"We would like anyone who believes they may have information on those responsible for the incident to contact us and help us to piece together the events surrounding the incident."
