8 May 2009 One Big Action Packed Transport Festival Day!

For one big day only, Snibston has an action packed Transport Festival on Sunday 17th May, 10am – 5pm

The Festival is a perfect fun day out for all the family and transport enthusiasts alike, with planes, trains and automobiles and much much more!

Families can enjoy a ride on a military tank in the country park before the kids go crazy on ‘Water Shooting Crazy Cars’ then enjoy the ‘Giant Disney Car Dome with Bish Bash and Music’ (a bouncy castle with a difference!) For the thrill seekers, there are ‘Zero Gravity Ball Games’ or a more relaxing option of a pony ride for the kids.

All the excitement of the day should build up an appetite, so why not try your hand at building your own outdoor fire to cook and eat in the great outdoors here at Snibston. Then learn how to put out a chip pan fire with the Leicestershire Fire Brigade who has chosen Snibston Transport Festival 09 to host their amazing car crash stunt show to take place in the events arena.

The highlight of the day, a definite must see, is the Auster Club Formation Fly Past to take place at 12.30pm and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at 3.30pm, to include 2 Spitfires, 2 Hurricanes and a Lancaster, weather permitting. Times are subject to change.

Pitt the colliery engine will be taking passengers along the restored colliery railway at regular intervals throughout the day. For those of you who would like to know more about the history surrounding Snibston’s railway there will be railway guided tours to include a visit to the locomotive shed and weighbridge.

Car enthusiasts can marvel at the number of vintage and classic cars to include Austin Healey’s, Mini’s, Morris Minor’s and Triumph Stag’s to name but a few. Owners may be available to chat to visitors about how these exhibits have been lovingly restored and offer any interesting stories about their past.
