19 May 2009 Go batty with the Rangers at Snibston

People can enjoy learning more about bats, and searching for them in the dark, at the Bat night at Snibston Country Park this weekend (May 23).

Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about this mysterious but fascinating nocturnal creature during a fun evening run by the country park Rangers.

An informative visual presentation indoors about Britain’s native bat species will be followed by a bat hunt outdoors. The search will be on for feeding bats using ultrasonic bat detectors during a guided walk of the park in the dark.

The Bat Night is from 8.00pm to 10.00pm on Saturday, 23rd May. Tickets are £3 for adults, £2 for concessions, families are £8 including two children or £9 for three children. Car parking at Snibston is free.

Pre-booking is recommended. To book, or for more information, people should phone Snibston on 01530 278444. Anyone coming to the Bat Night should wear suitable outdoor clothes and footwear.

The country park, which starts just behind the Snibston Discovery Museum, is an amazing place for wildlife so close to the centre of Coalville. Snibston is just off the A511, just 4 miles from Junction 22 of the M1 and Junction 13 of the A42/M42.It is clearly signed on all major approach routes.
