Coalville town centre is hosting a different type of attraction this summer as part of the Leicestershire by-the-sea programme.

On Friday, 14th August, a beach complete with buckets, spades, deck chairs and a beach hut will be specially constructed in Marlborough Square.

The beach, along with face painters, puppets, craft activities and entertainment for the whole family, will be available from 10am-4pm.

Leicestershire County Councils Fun by Bus Crew will be at the event handing out free goodie bags and Attractions by Bus guides, which offer selected discounted tickets to attractions in Leicestershire throughout the summer period.

The Coalville-by-the-sea event, jointly organised by Leicestershire County Council and North West Leicestershire District Council, can be reached easily by public transport with some services stopping right outside.

Arriva services 15 and 16 run locally around the Coalville, Ashby and Ibstock areas, whilst buses from Leicester include Arriva services 26 and 152 and Veolia service 50 departing hourly.

Alternatively, Roberts Tours also operate service 120 every two hours from Leicester or service 159 every hour from Hinckley.

Arriva service 126 runs every 20 minutes from Loughborough and the 155 operates hourly from Castle Donington.

Lesley Pendleton, Leicestershire County Council Cabinet lead member for transportation, said: Marlborough Square is very easy to get to by public transport as buses stop right by the beach!

This takes away all the hassle of searching for a parking spot and makes Coalville-by-the-sea accessible to everyone.

Matthew Blain, Deputy Leader of North West Leicestershire District Council said: We are delighted to be taking part in the Leicestershire-by the sea- programme again this year.

It not only enhances Coalville as a place of interest but it is great to bring tourism into the area through people who might not otherwise necessarily visit.
