22 September 2010School officially opens after 1.4M makeover!

Photo opportunity: Staff and pupils from All Saints Primary School in Coalville, will be joined by Peter Osborne, the Chairman of Leicestershire County Council, to officially open their new look school. The event is taking place at the school on Ashby Road in Coalville, on Friday 24th September at 1.15pm.

The primary school has benefited from a 1.4 million makeover and is now completely renovated with many new facilities including:

  • Three new classrooms to replace mobile ones that will enable all pupils to be taught in the same building. Existing classrooms have also been fully refurbished.
  • A new kitchen enabling healthy meals to be prepared freshly within the school.
  • A new food, science and design room
  • New library
  • Enhanced ICT provision with a new ICT area, wireless connection, interactive whiteboards in every classroom and laptops.
  • A new external sport and recreational area
  • Additional parking spaces and enhanced landscaping at the front of the school and now includes a cycle path, garden with sculptures and a parents waiting area.
  • A new courtyard garden has also been developed.
  • New reception/administration area to create a welcoming first point of contact with the school.
  • The replacement of all external windows and doors to help keep in the warmth and make the school more environmentally friendly.

All Saints Primary School is one of seven schools in Leicestershire to benefit from Leicestershire County Councils 16.9 million Primary Strategy for Change programme.

Peter Osborne, the Chairman of Leicestershire County Council, said:

A tremendous amount of work has gone into the school to bring it right up to the 21st Century. The many new facilities and resources will benefit the staff and children immensely. I am sure that they have watched eagerly as their school has been changed in front of them into a superb building that they can all enjoy. Congratulations to everyone involved in seeing this project come to fruition.

Debbie May, the Headteacher of All Saints Primary School, said:

The school has been completely transformed and provides a wonderful environment for all the children and the staff. I would like to thank the Parent Teacher Association for sponsoring the plants for the landscaping, Beesleys Nursery, for design and support and Graham Mitcheson and the pupils for their wonderful sculpture.
