6 October 2010The Tudors come to life!

The Tudors are coming to life this weekend at Donington le Heath Manor House and they will be engaging visitors into what everyday life was like in the 16th Century.

On Sunday October 10th from 11am 4pm, Leicestershire County Councils Donington le Heath Manor House presents Hands-on Tudors where visitors will have a chance to join in with craft demonstrations and presentations and explore the costumes, customs, music and daily life of the people from the Tudor period.

Donington le Heath Manor House is medieval, but was lived in by the Digby Family throughout the Tudor period. It was remodelled in the early 17th century, probably around 1620, when a new roof and new windows were added. The gardens of the house are laid out in late 17th century style with herb and flower gardens and an orchard.

Entry to the event is FREE and Doningtons Classic Tea Room will be open all day serving light meals and refreshments.

David Sprason, Leicestershire County Councils Cabinet Member for Adults and Communities, said:

"Donington le Heath Manor House is a very special place for exploring the past. The house is well-known for holding excellent historical events. Hands-on Tudors is free, so come and enjoy a fun and active historical day out for all the family at this wonderful local venue."

For more information please call: 01530 817214 or visit: www.leics.gov.uk/donington

Donington le Heath Manor House is on the South West Edge of Coalville, next to Hugglescote village and is open daily from 11-4pm.
