Eight care providers interested in buying County Council care homes have been shortlisted.

Leicestershire County Council today published the names of providers who have been invited to submit bids for one or more of the nine in-house care homes that the council is looking to transfer.

The homes are:

Curtis Weston House, Wigston, including Day Centre;

Hadrian House, Thurmaston;

Harvey House, Barwell;

Huntingdon Court, Loughborough;

Kirby House, Kirby Muxloe;

Lenthall House, Market Harborough;

The Limes, Hinckley, including Day Centre;

Tillson House, Coalville;

Woodmarket House, Lutterworth.

The councils Cabinet member for Adults and Communities, David Sprason, said: Im pleased that we have sufficient interest in all nine homes, from experienced care providers who have exceeded our qualifying standards threshold.

Shortlisted bidders have also shown positive interest in continuing the day care services at Curtis Weston House, Wigston, and The Limes, Hinckley.

Detailed bids must be returned by December 6. The County Council will evaluate, in detail, bids over the winter, before making a final decision(s) on the successful purchaser(s). Details will be available in March with homes due to transfer in the summer of 2011.

The eight shortlisted bidders are set out in the attached table.
