Coalville man involved in a fatal collision on the A42
Officers from Leicestershire Constabularys serious collision investigation unit are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the A42 in Long Whatton.
The collision occurred at about 4.36pmon Tuesday November 23 on the southbound carriageway of the A42.
A silver Ford Fiesta Zetec and a dark Volkswagen Golf were driving along the A42 when the Ford Fiesta left the carriageway and was involved in a collision with a white Volvo 440 LGV, which was stationary in the lay-by.
The driver of the Ford Fiesta, Mr Samuel Michael Barker (18) of Coalville,received serious injuries and was taken to the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham where he died during the evening.
The driver of the Volkswagen Golf failed to stop at the scene. The driver of the LGV was not injured.
Detective Constable Peter Davies is investigating the incident, he said: The A42 is a busy road especially at the time the collision has occurred, I would urge anyone who was driving along the A42 on Tuesday (November 23) around 4.30pm to contact me if they witnessed the collision or saw any of the vehicles beforehand.
I am particularly keen to identify and trace the occupants of the dark Volkswagen Golf, which didnt stop at the scene. If you know who was in this vehicle or you were in the vehicle then please contact the police immediately.
