Youngsters hold tea dance with a modern day twist

***Media opportunity: 1.30pm 3.30pm, Saturday, February 5, Hugglescote Community Centre, Grange Road, LE67 2BR. Young people will host a T-Pod party for the community***

A T-pod dance a tea dance with a modern day twist is being held by young people for the whole community in Hugglescote this weekend.

People of all ages are invited to attend the village community centre in Grange Road from 1.30pm to 3.30pm on Saturday (Feb 5) to enjoy music, dance, arts and crafts, tea and cakes and events such as a charity bingo.

The free event has been organised by teenagers from Leicestershire County Council Youth Services Coalville and Ibstock Youth Forum.

Music from the 1950s to the present day will be played via an ipod sound system, hence the T-Pod party!

The aim is to bring both younger and older people together through sharing stories of their lives, which will help increase understanding between generations and promote positive relationships.

County Council Youth Development Worker Helen Bakewell said: The young people from Coalville and the surrounding areas who have worked to make this happen are really looking forward to this event.

They want to encourage the whole community to get together and raise the profile of young people in North West Leicestershire. There will be something for everyone the more the merrier!

The event is being held thanks to a 400 RESPECT grant and young people contacting local organisations. A local community group will be chosen to benefit from funds made on the day.

The event will also be attended by Ibstock Scout Band, local dance groups, representatives from the Marlene Reid Centre and the Police and the local SureStart Centre.
