Detectives investigating a substantial amount of damage at Bardon Quarry are appealing for public help.

Sometime between 6pm on Thursday September 1 and 5.30am on Friday September 2 the quarry in Bardon, Coalville was entered and a number of vehicles were damaged.

Several tyres had holes drilled into them, super glue was put into ignition switches and foam put into engines and machine parts.

The quarry covers a large area and there is a possibility that the premises may have been entered from the A511.

Detective Constable Alf Doyle is investigating the incident, he said: The damage caused to the vehicles will cost a significant amount of money to put right, six items of plant equipment were damaged overnight.

We would appeal to anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area surrounding the quarry during the evening of Thursday September 1 or early hours of Friday September 2 to contact us.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact DC 170 Alf Doyle on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officers identification number 0170. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
