Officers have asked for other victims to come forward after two men were sentenced to a total of 36-years in prison today for the rape and indecent assault of two children.

Mark Thomas, from Scarborough, and Paul Thomas, from Jersey Road in Leicester, were both convicted of rape, indecency with a child and indecent assault at Leicester Crown Court on Wednesday November 2.

They were today sentenced to 18-years in prison each for the offences against two children that occurred between 1999 and 2002 in the Ibstock area of Leicestershire.

Alyson Mepham, of Seagrave Close in Coalville, pleaded guilty to two counts of neglect at an earlier hearing and was today sentenced to two and a half years in prison.

Officers have released the images of the two men in the hope that any other victims will come forward.

Detective Constable Andy Spence of Leicestershire Constabularys Child Abuse Investigation Unit, investigated the incidents, he said:This has been an extremely difficult time for the victims, both of which have shown unbelievable bravery and dignity throughout this investigation and trial and have had unconditional support from their foster parents.

Todays result is a credit to them and to those who worked tirelessly on the case for four years.

We have released the pictures of Thomas and Thomas in the hope of reaching out to any other victims of the pair that may be out there.

Thomas and Thomas spent time living in various parts of the UK and although we hope that there are no other victims we have issued these photos and details of their sentencing in the hope of encouraging others to come forward.

Following on from todays result the two victims said: We would just like to say many, many thanks to our barrister Mary Prior, DC Andy Spence and the rest of the court officials who were so kind and considerate to both of us. We would like to thank our foster parents who have been very special in our lives with all the love and support they have given us through some difficult years.

We are so pleased these people are locked away and justice has been done. It is also comforting to know that other children are safe from these two people. Now we dont have to keep looking back over our shoulders and our past at those horrible memories and that feels great.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Leicestershire Constabulary on 101.Alternatively, you may contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
