Health team move helps council save cash

A health team has moved to County Hall, helping the county council to make the most of its office space and save 850,000 per year.

Members of the Health Protection Agency have moved to the councils Glenfield HQ, where they are linking up with public health teams that have already relocated there.

Byron Rhodes, the councils cabinet member for property, said: The council is determined to improve services and save money, by joining up more effectively with other public bodies.

Moving the Health Protection Agency to County Hall helps make the most of our office space and encourages vital joint working on key issues.

Im confident that we will be able to attract other public sector bodies to join up with us here.

It is part of the councils office strategy, which is on track to save 850,000 per year by having fewer satellite offices, locating more staff at County Hall and sharing facilities with district councils and other partners.

Other initiatives include relocating register offices to district council HQs in Loughborough, Coalville and Melton.
